The Legend of Yi Sing Street, Sihsheng Temple, Sinshuei Village 
During the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Sinshuei Village, Puyan, was the short cut between Lugang and Beitou and thus formed a bustling market beyond Lugang. There used to be a street named Yi Sing Street with more than one hundred shops lining down the street and some well-worshipped temples. Later, the scholar, Shih Jiou-duan staged a petition protesting extra tax by the Qing government and was attacked by Qing armies, who burned down Yi Sing Street as well as all temples. Not until believers collected money to rebuild Sihsheng Temple in 1975 did it become a local belief center again.
