Ciande Temple in Jiaoshu Village worship Matsu, whose statue was brought to Taiwan in Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and is more than one hundred years old. There used to be many trees in Jiaoshu Village. There were seven luns in the north of the farm houses when ancestors settled down here, which the settlers called Cisinglun.
According to the fengshui master, Cisinglun would bring peace and happiness to the residents, so no damage was allowed to do against Cisinglun. One of the big trees on the shaluns still stands by Ciande Temple. In front of Ciande Temple lies the renovated Rihyue Pool.
Once, a flood divided the village into two parts, which later formed Rihyue Pool. During the flood, there flew in a board with carvings “Amitabah” on it. After the flood, the villagers picked it up and carved it into a deity statue and constructed Biyun Temple to worship it.
There are several old banyans behind Biyun Temple, which with the temple, have been guarding the local residents. Rihyue Pool, which used to be messy and dirty looks great after renovation.
