　The owner of Chen's old family compound is a prestigious clan in Puyan with many famous and powerful off-springs. The first Changhua County Councilman from Puyan Township was from Chen’s clan. Chen's old family compound is a sanheyuan with multi-wings of houses built by the sides. Whai is more special, the houses on both side of outermost wing are tow-storied, which were rarely seen at that time. According to the scion Chen Bo-jhong, though his grandfather (who built the compound) was illiterate, he was fond of making friends with men of letters.
