Supervior of Puyan

　 　Puyan Township, where people are honest and simple, talents gather and development has been achieved very early, ever enjoyed a prosperous boom due to the fact that the Old Chuoshuei River used to play an important waterway between Lugang and Beidou. However, with the passing of the time, Puyan gradually fell into the oblivion. But, in the past few years, the throbbing vitality in the township made Puyan shine marvelously again and a comeback is surging. 　I, though being a Puyan local to the bottom of my boots, came to understand the hometown in depth six years ago when I came back to serve the residents. Due to the love to the hometown and the deep self-expectation to upgrade Puyan and bring a better life to all residents of Puyan, I ran for the township chief and got elected due to your supports. So, I could begin draw a blue print for the bright future for Puyan based on my ambitions and what I had been taught.

　The construction of Puyan Township is very complicated, but most importantly of all, with a vision, I have to do both the software and hardware projects at the same time to lay the foundation for a prosperous Puyan. Based on the mentioned-above goal, I re-engineered the organization of the town hall and planned the developments for Puyan, which bore fruit simply in two years. So far as construction is concerned, I renovated the township library, transformed a deserted warehouse into Fong Wei Fang, inaugurated the Leisure Center for the Senior Citizens, widened farm road in Punan and Chengping and the waterway in Puyanpi, improved the surface of such important roads as Sanshih Road, re-engineered the temple yard of Nioupucuo, underwent landscaped improvement projects aggressively, made neglected spaces and the cemetery look like parks, set up the entrance marks for every village and upgraded the megaphone equipments in every village.

　I also made much progress in sogtware projects, such as utilizing the township library to hold different kinds of arts and literature activities, colorful painting the front walls of the township library, the Butterfly Wall of Punan and the Folk Art Wall of Shenghe Temple , utilizing Fong Wei Fang as the industry promotion center, installing the website for Puyan Township , hiring lawyers to help the residents for free, promoting a clean living environment, establishing different production and sales units to improve the peasants' incomes. Of all, the proudest is the community revitalization. In recent years, many communities in Puyan have won numerous awards for community revitalization in Changhua County , even the whole Taiwan , which in turn made Puyan famous island-wide.

　For the long-term developments, after the mentioned-above infrastructures have been completed, I hope to try my best to transform Puyan Township into a recreational and leisured farm town in Changhua County . I helped peasants transform from producing side to elaborate recreation side, published the bilingual To Enjoy Your Vacation in Puyan and the VCD for Fong Wei Fang. I sincerely hope peasants, under the threats of low-price agricultural produce imports, can find a way out to help push the economic developments for Puyan by means of recreational agriculture and sightseeing.

　To make residents' lives more convenient, the town hall publishes a yellow pages book in which all telephone number of households, brief introduction of Puyan Township , the service items of the town hall and the telephone number for different branches are printed. I sincerely hope a better tomorrow for Puyan can be achieved by concentrating the consensus through convenient communication.
　

　Few people would go to the library in the past. After the re-design and renovation with a small amount of money, it turned out to be the best one in all township libraries in Changhua County and attracted residents and students to come here to gather information. 　

　Re-engineering the Glutinous Rice Workshop: Puyan Township produces bountiful glutinous rice. The neglected spaces by the Taiwan Sugar railway were renovated into a Glutinous Rice Workshop with a red roof. All agricultural produces of Puyan would be demonstrated inside. Coupled with the spacious parking space, Glutinous Rice Workshop would become the character of Puyan Township in the future.

　With the helps of local archivists, History of Puyan, Vol. 1, in which the developments of each village are mentioned, is completed.

　 The development points are to make good use of Puyan's characters, namely, beautiful countryside scenery. So, developing recreational agriculture, preserving precious cultural assets, turning the Old Chuoshuei River waterway into a place for leisure, and developing bike trails for leisure are all parts of the plan. Besides, the direct collection of garbage from Aug. 2002 by the town hall and recycling has borne fruit. I sincerely hope to make Puyan an example for environmental protection.
